Plava Vaibhava - Rules and Registrations

CULTURAL PROGRAMS

  1. Cultural performances for Ugadi 2021 focuses mainly on all possible folk styles of karnataka along with light music, Bhajane and few special art forms like Puppetry, Dollu kunitha, Harikathe and many more

  2. We have divided the cultural performances into three categories - Dance, Singing, Skit

  3. Interested performers, kindly register using the registration link below for the cultural category of your choice. Also please choose the option to be a mentor if you are interested to be one.

Note1: You can choose more than one cultural category while registering

Note2: Small kids can register for Singing or Dance only. Kids aged 8 and above can opt for skit, dance or singing

  1. Once we recieve the registrations, each cultural category (Dance, Music, Skit) will meet virtually to discuss on all the folk forms we have identified for that category and decide further. Registered participants can group up themselves and choose a form they wish to perform

  2. P.S: We are trying to bring in many forgotten and unique art forms of karnataka on stage. Even though we have identified few art forms already, we are open to include/exclude the art forms depending on feasibility. Also, each participant can choose the art form of their choice and songs for the chosen art form

  3. There will be ONLY ONE PERFORMANCE PER ART FORM and due to numerous art forms and limited time, each folk art will be allocated specific time. More details will be shared upon registration

  4. Disclaimer: It will be mainly group performances, however, achieving it without physical interaction is highly encouraged. Kindly make sure you are adhering to Covid restrictions. Participants will be responsible in case any groups or more than one individual decide to meet in-person for video shoots or practice sessions

  5. Costume, accessories, Video shoot and editing will all be group's responsibility and koota will not be involved in it

  6. For this new year, we are trying to pull off a very new concept and kindly request community's support in doing so :)

  7. Registration is now open. We are planning to close the registrations by 10th March 2021 after which groups can be formed

COMPETITIONS

ವಚನ ವಾಚನ (Vachana Recitation/Singing)

1. Registration begins on March 11th and End date for Registration is March 31st

2. This is a solo competition. Any oregon residing kannadiga community kids can participate

3. Categories

Sarvajna (3-5 Years)

Basavanna (6-9 Years)

Akka Mahadevi (10-13 Years)

Madara Chennaiah (14-16 Years)

4. List of vachanas will be shared to each category once you register.

Sarvajna - All kids get same vachana which they need to memorize

Basavanna - We will be providing 3 vachanas out of which you can choose one

Akka Mahadevi - We will be providing 3 vachanas out of which you can choose one

Madara Chennaiah - No choices will be given. You can select a vachana of your choice. Vachana can be of 6-8 lines

5. You can either recite or sing the vachana you choose. You might find multiple tunes for the chosen vachana. Please feel free to use any tune, add your own tune or just recite.

6. Judging will be based on pronunciation, clarity of words and creativity

7. Please submit a video of the kid reciting/singing the vachana. Make sure the video is shot in one GO and no editings are allowed.

8. Video should be in landscape mode and of good resolution and lighting

ಚಿತ್ರ - ಕಥೆ (Collage)


1. Registration begins on March 11th and End date for Registration is March 31st

2. This is a family participation for Oregon kannadiga community members only

3. Topic will be shared on competition day - 3rd April 2021. Time will be notified to registrants later

4. To add on to the fun of participation, choose a name for your family registration

5. Size of collage - One Poster board (22inch * 28inch)

6. What is allowed - Pictures from papers, magazines etc.. Glue, scissors and markers/Pens

7. What is not allowed - Any form of painting, drawing or writing long texts

8. Build a story using pictures based on topic, showcase different dimensions of the same story, derive a new concept out of the topic given - Imagination is limitless. Get creative!

9. If you are a bachelor and wish to participate, you are most welcome to do so. Get a team of 3 people max and register.

10. Please submit one in-progress picture and one finished picture. Make sure the images are clicked in landscape mode and of good clarity

ಕಾವ್ಯಗೋಷ್ಠಿ (Poetry)


1. Registration begins on March 11th and End date for Registration is March 31st

2. This is a solo competition. Any oregon residing kannadiga community member of 17 years and above can participate

3. Topic will be shared once you register

4. Rules - Minimum 6 lines and maximum 12 lines and in kannada only. Usage of couple of words in other language is permitted to go with the flow of poem

5. Poem should be relevant to topic, should be original and not from any other poets or it will be disqualified

6. Please submit a video reciting the poem. Make sure the video is shot in landscape mode and of good resolution and lighting

Kids EmCee Auditions

Note:

1. We are trying to limit every kid and adult to two performances max. Performances include - Dance, Singing, Skit and Emcee. For ex: In case your kid is selected for Emcee, then they will be able to take part in only one other cultural performance.

2. If we get a lot of registrations, then priority will be given to kids who have not done emcee in our previous events and to those who are not part of any other cultural performances. Thanks for Understanding.

3. There is no restriction on minimum age for auditioning for Emcee. Main criteria is fluency in kannada and ability to memorize lines and deliver.

4. Registration closes on 10th March. Audition date will be communicated later.
