Vivekananda Contest

150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda

As you may know, the year 2013 is being celebrated as Swami Vivekananda''s 150th Birth Anniversary by the Government of India. To commemorate this event, NSF Denver Chapter is organizing the essay/art/painting/drawing competitions to children of all ages.

This is a onetime event that we would like to share with you all and request children to participate in this event.

Children need to do research on Swami Vivekananda. Based on their research, they can write articles on what they have learned, what are the takeaways for themselves and what action items they would like to undertake in their own life. They can also submit artwork, poems, essays, drawings or other forms of expression.

We have 3 different levels -

    • Level 1: KG - 3rd grade
    • Level 2: 4th - 8th grade
    • Level 3: 9th - 12th grade

At each level, 3 prizes will be awarded. Children can participate in all categories, but only entry per category is permitted. That is, for example, only one submission is eligible for painting category, and only one submission for the poem category. A child can make submissions to multiple categories.

All participants will be awarded certificates at the NSF Regional Contests that will be held during the months of March and April 2013.

All accepted submissions will be published in the 150th Birthday Book by NSF.

All works should be submitted online. Essays/poems/short stories should be typed and sent by email. All the art work needs to be scanned and sent.

Submission Deadline is February 15, 2013.

The Decision of Judges is Final.
